What a difference a day makes...

 

The words of the old pop song, "What a diff'rence a day makes, Twenty-four little hours" might be sung by the passengers on the luxury cruise ship Hanseatic Inspiration.

On Wednesday October 23 the ship was anchored in the idyllic setting of Baddeck Bay on the Bras d'Or Lakes. As passengers were ferried ashore on the ship's tenders they were treated to 20 degree C (68 degrees F) weather with fall leaves blazing in yellow and orange in the bright sunshine.

 

Then late this evening the ship is due to arrive in Halifax which is socked in with a legendary fog and rain showers. Overnight temperatures will likely fall from 17C (62 F) to single digits and tomorrow is expected to be overcast with a high of 12C (53 F).  

The Hanseatic Inspiration was built by Fincantieri's Romanian subsidiary Vard Tulcea in 2019. With only 120 cabins (all outside) it has a maximum passenger capacity of 230. It also has 120 crew cabins and is registered at 15,651 gt. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises operates the ship on a wide ranging itinerary fron the far north to Anarctica. On this trip it is enroute from Toronto to Boston.

From there it will set out for Antarctica and return trip next year via the Northwest Passage.
