MOL is one of the oldest and certainly largest shipping companies in Japan. Its website lists 886 ships including more than 120 autocarriers. It is present in almost all areas of shipping from tankers to bulk carriers and is a partner in Ocean Network Express (ONE), the Japanese container conglomerate.
MOL stands for Mitsui O.S.K. Lines which was the name adopted by the Mitsui Group's shipping interests, Mitsui Steamship Co. Ltd., in 1964 when it merged with Osaka Shoshen Kaisha. They entered the autocarrier business in 1965 and use the acronym ACE, for Auto Carrier Express, in their ship names.
Today, November 4, the Divine Ace arrived at Autoport from Japan via the Panama Canal, Lazaro Cardenas, Santo Domingo, and Jacksonville. It sailed late this afternoon for Baltimore, Brunswick and back to Asia.
Minamnippon built the ship at the Shitanoe yard in 2013, and it registers 59,022 gt, 18,134 dwt. It is equipped with a 100 tonne capacity stern ramp and a small side ramp.It is also rated to carry 6400 automobiles of the RT43 size.
