Sanderling makes Monday call (updated)

Oceanex Sanderling made a rare Monday call at Autoport yesterday. The ship usually calls on Thursday, sailing Friday for St.John's, then sails to Corner Brook and back to Halifax.

She sometimes skips Corner Brook and makes a mid-week call here. Yesterday's visit was to Autoport only and she didn't work any cargo at Halterm. She is seen here heading up for Eastern Passage with Atlantic Willow in attendance.

Speaking of Halterm, McNally is still beating away at the end of pier 42, and their big dredge Canadian Argosy is working along the pier face. There is also a land side crane that will be handling the movement of steel piles.
Update: Oceanex has applied to use an as yet unnamed RoRo/ LoLo foreign flagged vessel to run Montreal/ St.John's and Halifax/ St.John's/Corner Brook from January 1 to May 31, 2011. This would seem to indicate that the regular ships will be taken out of service for refits during these times. It will be interesting to see what ship they secure for this work. Ice class RoRo /LoLo ships must be few and far between.
My guess therefore is that it will a Stena ship, such as Stena Freighter, from the Baltic.
