Oceanex Connaigra - first call

The brand new $108 mn Oceanex Connaigra arrived in Halifax for the very first time this morning. Just delivered in St.John's on the weekend, the ship is fresh from the Flensburger shipyard in Germany, which delivered the ship on time in less than a year.

The largest Canadian flag ConRo (container RoRo ship) will not be a regular caller in Halifax however. It will normally run between Montreal and St.John's. Its visit today is the first of at least three calls to cover for fleet mate Oceanex Sanderling that will be drydocked for a refit.

This morning the ship will be at Autoport loading cars, and will move over to pier 36 in Halifax later this afternoon or tomorrow morning to load containers and trailers. The ship has a capacity of 95 trailers or 500 autos.
