The new ConRo Oceanex Connaigra will be removed from service and drydocked due to a malfunctioning propellor hub. The failure occurred on November 18, while upbound on the St.Lawrence. A temporary fix has allowed the ship to travel at a much reduced speed. It will return from Montreal to St.John's November 20 to unload
Fortunately her predecessor, Cabot is still in Montreal and will be reactivated to fill in until repairs are completed.
There's no chance she's docking at Newdock anytime soon as the CCGS Terry Fox is still in the graving dock and will be for some time yet.
ReplyDeleteAlso note that the Connaigra considerably exceeds both the Beam and & Length capacity of graving dock at Newdock.
ReplyDeleteToo large for Graving Dock in St John's.
ReplyDeleteThe event happened just down bound from Quebec City, the vessel dropped anchor in emergency near St-Laurent I.O.
ReplyDeleteJust passed inside Ramea this afternoon westbound.
ReplyDeleteShe is actually being drydocked in Boston...we are watching her come in from our office windows.
ReplyDeleteIn drydock in Boston as of this weekend
