MSC Ines - light load

As if in follow up to my post from yesterday, the MSC Ines arrived in Halifax this morning, April 2, lightly loaded.

The ship is eastbound on MSC's Indusa service sailing from US east coast ports and Freeport, Bahamas heading for India and Sri Lanka via Saudi Arabia. There are no containers on the after deck, which is usually reserved for empties. Ports around the world are littered with unemployed empties, so it is not surprising that it would not be carrying a deck load of them.

There is also a large open area on deck forward of the accommodation, perhaps to access the hold for cargo to be loaded here.

The tugs Atlantic Fir forward and Atlantic Oak aft prepare to move the ship alongside Pier 41 at PSA Halifax Atlantic Gateway.

Hyundai Heavy Industries built this ship in 2006 at their Ulsan shipyard. It is a 1107,551 gt, 114,732 dwt vessel with a capacity of 9113 TEU. It was built with the name Anaisa, but was renamed MSC Ines soon after delivery.
