After a year or so of seeing partly loaded container ships, it is refreshing to see one stacked to the gills with boxes. Of course some of these may be empties, since 7 high x 13 wide of loads might not be good for the ship's stability depending on how the ship is stowed.
Zim New York slid into pier 36 this morning and this is the view from across the street. The ship is rated to carry about 4839 TEUs (twenty foot equivalents.) Zim's own dry freight containers are rusty red coloured, and their reefer containers are white. Zim also carries boxes for other lines and independent containers too, which come in all colours.
