Another new name on MSCs Indusa service - and this time with a twist. The Northern Jamboree has a most unusual name for a ship built in 2010 by Daewoo Shipbuilding + Marine Engineering Co, Okpo. The 94,419 gt, 108,827 dwt ship, with a capacity of 8400 TEU including 700 reefers was inexplicably named after folk festivals that celebrate life in northern Canada - particularly in northern Saskatchewan and northern Manitoba. Owned by a single ship company in Hamburg, and managed by VShips Hamburg, it has apparently been chartered to various lines including ZIM (in 2021) and now MSC and without change of name.
It arrived in Halifax today, May 3 from Baltimore and berthed at Pier 42, PSA Halifax Atlantic Gateway. Fortunately the drizzly fog cleared off a bit allowing a glimpse of the ship. (Note the wind sock indicating a stiff onshore breeze.)
The ship sailed this evening for Suez. (Eastbound calls on the Indusa service are rare - most calls are westbound from North India via Suez en route to the US east coast).
