More fog today, June 19, - of legendary density - meant that most spectators saw little of the ceremonial start to the Royal Canadian Navy's Fleet Week. Visiting ships from the US Navy, US Coast Guard, Royal Danish Navy and the RCN made their way inbound, passing xHMCS Sackville for the official start. Some may have gone to Bedford Basin to turn.
From my position on the Dartmouth waterfront there was no visibility beyond the end of the Alderney Marina, but there were plenty of fog horns from the harbour ferries, tour boats and other craft.
Even the Dartmouth shoreline was nearly invisible. Some pleasure craft may have gone out to greet the incoming ships, but I doubt they saw much more than I did.
Some ships will be open to the public during Fleet Week which winds up June 22. (Seems like a short week.)
