All three megablocks of AOPV5 the future Frédérick Rolette are now aligned and ready for connection at Halifax Shipyard. The roll out of the centre block was covered here on Thursday (August 17) and the stern was moved out of the Assembly Hall yesterday (Friday, August 18) despite periodic heavy rain. By mid-morning today (Saturday August 19) the bow was already in place.
Stern section in place, late Friday.
Bow section in place Saturday morning
A large fleet of Self Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) was used to move and postion the mega blocks, which are supported by special cradles. Great precision is required to align the blocks precisely.
