A mishap during refueling HMCS St.John's resulted in a what the RCN is calling a "significant" fuel spill into Halifax harbour. The ship arrived last night and anchored. Why it chose to refuel at anchor rather than alongside at a boomed off location has not been explained as yet.
The area around the Dartmouth ferry terminal was abuzz with cleanup craft all day and there remains a sheen and odour late this afternoon. Workers will continue cleaning up until dark and resume again tomorrow.
